Tasmanian black lip abalone is particularly prized for its distinctive deep black lip and creamy, tender flesh. This local delicacy is a favourite among chefs and gourmands alike, celebrated not only for its taste but for its versatility in the kitchen.
Abalone isn’t just delicious—it’s also incredibly good for you. Each serving is:
Rich in selenium, which supports immune health
Packed with protein, essential for muscle repair
High in omega-3 fatty acids, which promote heart and brain health
A natural source of iodine, beneficial for thyroid function
Low in calories, making it a clean and lean source of nutrition
Three Friends Abalone begins their process with the careful selection of naturally spawning brood-stock. Only the healthiest and strongest are chosen to ensure top-quality offspring.
The abalone start their life in a nursery, feeding on algae and gradually growing from larvae into small mollusks. After about six months, they reach a size of around 2cm and are moved to a custom-built aquaculture environment.
Their growing environment is designed to replicate natural ocean cycles, powered by Tasmania’s renewable energy sources. The abalone are fed a specially formulated cereal-based diet to support optimal growth over the next 2–3 years until they reach market size.
When ready, the abalone are harvested and processed with care to maintain their premium quality. They are then delivered to high-end restaurants and discerning seafood lovers around the world.
Three Friends Abalone is now available at Manettas. Enjoy premium Tasmanian abalone—sustainably farmed, nutrient-rich, and full of flavour.
